Check out this Frisco band perform “Men” live. Sound quality is not great, but I want to show the truly unique percussion that they use. Great pop/folk sound: Their new cd, Visiter, just came out around a week ago, and it features some great folk tunes that are full of energy and emotion. Jodi is my personal favorite. Check out some songs on their myspace

March 28, 2008Check out this remix of crimewave… Definitely a song to groove to, and the images in the video move well with the beat
Brown’s Spring Concert
March 26, 2008So…Brown gets this for their spring concert:
I’m not the type that loves big name concerts (i.e. Lupe and M.I.A.), but at least I would go. Plus, if your not a fan of those hackneyed acts, you’ve got the chance to see Vampire Weekend, Girl Talk, and Umphrey’s – which are all great gigs. I give them an A for musical diversity – they have a jamband, two hip hop acts, one indie rock act, and one dj act. Wow. I vote go there for a concert weekend. It’s unfortunate that Midd could only get CAKE. Weren’t they that band that was cool in the early double 0’s with that catchy tune from the movie Orange County? Yep. Well at least everyone can groove to what little they know…and by everyone, I mean those twenty people that go. What was wrong with Toots and the Maytalls? At least they are a legit reggae band. Do people listen to music at our school?
NYT Book ad from a cooler time
March 10, 2008
Nov. 10, 1968“Honey, my Tom Wolfe book is more zeitgeisty than your Tom Wolfe book.” “Yes, dear, but mine has so many more exclamation points. I counted.” “It’s nice to be both literate *and* happening, isn’t it?” “Do you want to make out?” This advertisement for two of Tom Wolfe’s 1968 best sellers resembles an ad for coffee, cologne or condoms as much as it does a typical book ad, and that’s why it’s so freaking great. The quote from the poet Karl Shapiro — “Tom Wolfe is a goddam joy” — is a beauty, too.
