“I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read on the train.” – Oscar Wilde

Confidence in writing is essential, and revealing ourselves is also an important tool when writing nonfiction.  This quote really captures these things.  Here, Wilde suggests that our diaries are sensational, and he is right.  We must have confidence in our writing in order to write, and we must also be confident that we can write well in order to write well.  Our confidence also inspires us to write interesting tidbits from our lives – stuff that really reveals something heroic or disgusting about the writer.  The diary is the ultimate expository for these secretive and bold moments.
